Join us in 2025 for the highly anticipated Kilmovee 10K & 5K Road Races, an event that has become a staple in Ireland’s running calendar. Established in 2010, the Kilmovee races attract runners of all levels, from seasoned athletes to families looking for a fun, active day out. Set in the picturesque village of Kilmovee, Co. Mayo, this event blends a welcoming community atmosphere with a competitive edge, offering participants a chance to enjoy both fitness and the beauty of rural Ireland.
A Race with History
Over the years, the Kilmovee 10K has become more than just a road race. It is a significant community event, raising vital funds for the Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation & Kilmovee Shamrocks G.A.A Club and bringing people together from across the region and beyond for a bit of craic and competition. The race course takes runners through scenic country roads, offering a relatively flat and fast route, perfect for personal bests or simply enjoying the outdoors.
The Michael McDonnell Memorial Shield
Since its inception, the event has honored the legacy of Michael McDonnell, a proud teacher & dedicated supporter of local athletics and the Kilmovee community. The Michael McDonnell Memorial Shield* is awarded to the fastest educational finisher, whether a student of a teacher serving as a tribute to his contributions as a teacher and a source of inspiration for runners of all abilities. The Shield adds a deep sense of pride and tradition to the race, reinforcing its roots in the local heritage.
Whether you’re running for competition, fitness, or fun, the Kilmovee 10K & 5K promises a day of excitement, camaraderie, and achievement. Mark your calendars for 2025 and be part of this incredible event! Oh, and don't forget our legendary hospitality post race in Kilmovee Community Centre too!!
